Restroom Maintenance: 10 Tips to keep the office bathroom pristine
15 February 2024There is something incredibly charming about hardwood floors, wouldn’t you agree? The sound they make beneath your feet and the warmth they add to a room cannot be matched entirely by modern flooring. The maintenance of wooden floors, on the other hand, is far more intricate than wood-look tiles, but certainly worth the effort.
Did you know that the oldest hardwood floors in the world date back to 1638?
Try our 7 top tips to help your hardwood tiles last for centuries too:
Tip 1: Easy does it.
Whatever you do, do it gently to avoid damaging the finish. To remove dirt from the surface use a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.
Tip 2: Avoid harsh chemicals.
Use a pH-neutral, hardwood floor cleaner like our All Purpose Cleaner, and stay away from any product containing ammonia.
Tip 3: Say no to too much water.
Mop using a soft, lint-free microfibre mop that is damp to the touch, not wet.
Tip 4: Add felt to your furniture legs.
Fasten felt or soft fabric pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches and dents when moving or rearranging furniture.
Tip 5: Draw the curtains or blinds in direct sunlight.
Much like any wooden item, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause discolouration. Prevent this by drawing the blinds or curtains during the time of day when direct sunlight enters the room.
Tip 6: Use floor wax to preserve the surface.
Use wood-safe floor wax to protect your hardwood floors from spills and traffic. Floor wax will also give your floors a beautiful shine.
Tip 7: Use a buffing machine to restore its “glam”.
If your wooden floors need extra attention, consider using a buffing machine. A buffing machine helps to distribute wax more evenly, creating a smooth and glossy finish.
By using a polishing pad, you can restore the shine and smooth out minor imperfections in the finish. You can also remove light scratches on the surface with this machine.
