Mopping and tile cleaning

The ABCs of Mopping with JIM™Tile Cleaner

Myth: Mopping is easy! There is no wrong or right way to mop. All you need is a bucket, some form of detergent and any old mop.

This article is dedicated to the art of mopping!

First off, mopping tiles with the right tile cleaner is essential because quality tile cleaners are specifically formulated to remove dirt, grime, and stains that can build up on tile surfaces and in grout lines.

Introducing JIM™Tile Cleaner

JIM™Tile Cleaner is a neutral detergent, with a pleasant fragrance for daily maintenance of floors, walkways, wall tiles and patios. This product is ideal for surfaces with a natural shine.

Plus, it boasts triple-action and triple-concentrated power, which means all you need is 1 capful per 5-litre bucket.

Secondly, there is a right way to mop:

Step 1: Always start by sweeping or vacuuming the floor.

Step 2: Dilute 25ml (1 cap) in a bucket with 5-litres of water.

Step 3: Ensure the mop is damp, not soaking wet.

Step 4: Work in small sections, starting from the farthest corner of the room and moving toward the exit.

Step 5: Use a figure-8 or S-shaped motion to mop. This technique helps trap dirt and ensures a thorough clean without pushing dirt around.

Step 6: Rinse the mop regularly and change the water when it becomes dirty.

Step 7: Leave to dry naturally or dry with a clean microfibre cloth or a dry sweeper mop.

Finally, let’s talk mops.

The best mop to use depends on the type of flooring you have and your cleaning needs.

  • Sweeper mop – Use it for all floor types (tiles, hardwood, laminate, vinyl).
  • Spray mop – Use it to do quick clean-ups on all floor types.
  • Sponge mop – Use it on tile and vinyl floors.
  • Spaghetti/Fan mop – Use it on tile and concrete floors.

Happy mopping!
